Long Ball Black Licorice – Plug Style Alternative
If you’ve been reading this site for any length of time you know that I’m personally a huge proponent of smokeless alternatives or fake tobacco products. I firmly believe they are a tool that any quitter should put in their arsenal and should use as needed. There are a slew of outstanding products out there for dippers, but there’s never been a great alternative for those folks who used long leaf or plug products. I can’t tell you how often I get asked if there’s an alternative out there for them and my standard answer have been chewing gum, sunflower seeds or beef jerky. I’m happy to report that I’ve now got another recommendation to provide. Introducing Long Ball Licorice.
Long Ball Licorice is a new candy licorice made in Australia. It was created by Andre Chiavelli, a former employee of the New York Yankees and is exclusively licensed by the Babe Ruth Family! Check out the video I made of opening and trying the product for the first time below. Long Ball Licorice will carry an SRP of $5.95 per each 3.75 ounce pouch of the candy, and is scheduled to be placed in major league ballparks as well as select candy stores.
Long Ball Black Licorice Review
This is pretty straightforward. It’s black licorice. It’s in plug format. Rip-off a piece and pop it in. It’s a food-grade product so you don’t need to spit but if you choose to you’ll get a ton of dark brown / black saliva. Taste is again, very straightforward… it’s black licorice. If you like that flavor you’ll like this. If it’s not for you, this won’t be either.
As an alternative, this will work very well for plug or long leaf users. I’d never really considered licorice as something to chew on longer than a minute or two as I’m eating it but it works really well as a tobacco substitute. It works REALLY well if you just sort of “park” you chew in your mouth. I wasn’t a big long leaf user but when I was that’s exactly what I did. I didn’t really “chew” it as much as I parked it. That being said, this lasts a good long while. No cleanup to speak of as you’ve consumed it and it’s gone.
Long Ball Black Licorice Ingredients
The product that I sampled didn’t have ingredients on it so I can’t provide them here. I’ll update this post when I get them but I’d be shocked if the ingredients list said anything other than “black licorice”.
